walter mitty or bloughter
okay here's a quick question open to all who might know the right answer is it right for someone to call himself a royal welch fusilier or a royal welchman who yes
did join up and was in the junior leades but never as far as i know never served in the regiment i believe this person attacked another j/l and hurt him he was then arrested
then possible discharged or transferred to a different regiment or corp now the reason i am asking is this person lives close to me and is becoming a right pain in the rear
telling people he was rwf/military police/a paramedic/and a few other things i have had some arguments with him over his rwf claim and i am open to some sensible suggestions
on what i might be able to do thank you.
Re: walter mitty or bloughter
If you can, try to find a bit of information that might help confirm what you already know about their service. You could also check in with a local veterans’ group; they might be able to verify things or offer some guidance.
In the meantime, try to avoid further confrontation with them and just keep your distance.
Re: walter mitty or bloughter
I was a Junior Leader at Oswestry [IJLB], 1965 -67, there was a Bloke called 'Robbo' Roberts; Junior Fusilier RWF, who was always going AWOL, he spent more time in the Guardroom than actually training. He was a term ahead of me so probaly would have 'Passed Out' in Early 1967, although he was Back-Squadded a number of times, which means he would probably join the Battalion [if he ever did] in 1967. I joined the Battalion that year but dont remember seeing him again.
Re: walter mitty or bloughter
I’m ex IJLB Oswestry too 70-72
We all wore the sane cap badge but on 2 dress the lapel badges and buttons were RWF and it had the flash. I was a junior fusilier too, so it’s an interesting one!
My little red book has me as RWF on day one of enlistment aged 15, but a couple of pages on under “Corps in which served” it doesn’t mention IJLB, it starts with RWF on the day I passed out.
Leave the jury out until he can produce his red book - Probably best to not let it bug you though - avoid him, if he’s lying about his service he’s a sad sack!
