The Royal Welsh Regimental Events
From Major Derek Adams
As a result of the restrictions that have been briefed by the PM and his Medical Experts the following has been decided:
Regimental Events that have had to be cancelled or postponed:
- Regimental Committee Meeting 31 March — we will not meet physically but will do as much of the agenda as possible. I will put out an email with the tasking for this.
- Op HERRICK 11 Ten Year Reunion 17/ 18 April. This event had already been postponed. A new date will be disseminated as soon as it is known.
- Branch Secretaries Meeting Newtown 6 May. This has been postponed and we will send out a pack of papers to each of the Branch Secretaries to pass on to their members as safely as they can. If we can meet later in the year, we will let you know.
- VE Day Commemorations 8-10 May. This is not our event, it is being run by the Welsh Government and 160 Brigade. I suspect that it will be cancelled.
- Investment Sub Committee Meeting 14 May. We will not meet physically. It is hoped that the expert members of the ISO can meet virtually in advance of the Full Trustees’ Meeting in June.
- Comrades Battlefield Tour of Dunkirk 20-23 May. This has already been cancelled.
Freedom Parades:
- Ceredigion — 27 June. We have asked the council what their plan is. We will let you know.
- Torfaen - 4 July. This has already been cancelled by the council with the hope that it can be rescheduled.
Regimental Events that are still planned for:
- Full Trustees’ Meeting 10 June at the offices of Smith & Williamson in London. Planning still to go ahead and a decision will be made in May.
- Comrades’ Visit to 1 R WELSH 17-21 June. Planning is still to go ahead but no money/funding is to be committed.
- Brecon Reunion 25 July. Planning is still to go ahead but no money / funding is to be committed.
- Wrexham Reunion 5 September. Planning is still to go ahead but no money / funding is to be committed.
