Welsh independence
I am a welsh man living in England and am just wondering how members would vote if this came to be,voting for welsh independence from where I stand I just can’t see how Wales would keep going without money coming from central government where as England would benefit from welch and indeed Scottish independence financially. Its a long time since I lived in Wales so I might well be proved wrong but if independence did come along how would they manage

Re: Welsh independence
I wonder if Wales were to become independent, whether the Welsh government would/could start to put in some communication and transport infrastructure to make moving around the [new] Country a bit easier.
How about great big Motorway linking North and South, from; Say, Conway [A55] down through Snowdonia, through the Cambrian Mountains and then down through the Brecon beacons to link up with the M4.
This would link the capital with the semi isolated towns of Mid and North of the Country.
A dual carriageway could be pushed out from Aberystwyth to join this new road, which would help the university guys there as well as the Lampeter campus.
Think of the jobs this would make.
It would also be handy to put alongside this route as it was being built, a high speed rail track.
This would transform the economy, it would probably take years; but would be worth it in the end.

Re: Welsh independence
if Wales went Independent, the money required to join north to south would be totally out of reach of any independent Wales, and is out of reach finacially to Wales as attached to England,i think independence for Wales would not be viable,,without money from the coffers of the treasury in England we would on our uppers,,Plaid Cymru are always spouting independence but never talk about how we could make ends meet

Re: Welsh independence
You have hit the nail on the head there Keith where would wales get thE money to pay for that also they would need their own armed forces I wonder how many serving RWF would remain in a welsh army with the prospect of Just serving in Wales from start to finish no overseas postings or would Wales even bother with an army as it would stand they could just get away with a couple ships to patrol the coast of Wales.Scotland thinks it can go independence but having been given powers to tax there they have had to go hand in glove to central government to fill a shortfall Wales has a population of 3.12 million as of 2017 just don’t see where they would get the money from, for me independence means what it says on your own in the big wide world and then don’t bleat about it when they can’t make ends meet

Re: Welsh independence
Scotland are relying on Scottish oil to see them ok for independence but what the Cranky women does not tell the population is that the oil reserves are fast dwindling out,and i do not think they will last much longer, and the EU have told them they will not be accepted. So its all very well having independence but the jocks will not be able to pay for it in the future, may well be doable for now but ten years down the line i doubt it.The SNP are like Plaid Cymru always plugging independence but with no sound policies as to how to afford it.I love Wales but long live the UK remain.

Re: Welsh independence
I think I read somewhere that the only thing Wales can offer is tourism so there would have to be a very lot of them to generate the money that would be needed
