Hi Brian,
Drum Major Rose became CSM C Coy in Honiton about 1968/9, I think he settled in Honiton when he finished his service, I may be wrong but I think he has passed away.
Someone may have more info to pass on to you hopefully.
Regards,
Joe.
Richard Henry Rose (Drum Major Rose) passed away on 6th June, 2001. Of all of his many accomplishments the one that specifically springs to mind was his continued interest in his 'comrades'. He also regularly looked forward to the newsletters of the League of Friends.
At his cremation, only two pieces of music were played: "Cum Rhondda" and "Onward Christian Soldiers" - apparently these were very much part of Richard's Army life.
Harry [who now lives in Australia] says that he was a wonderfull man, for whom he had the greatest respect.
