Valkenswaard War-graves: new project
https://rwf-forum.co.uk/vBulletin/at...tid=6100&stc=1
Valkenswaard war cemetary, who you may recall had the "photos on war graves" movement last year, have recently announced a new initiative.
Adopt a war-grave, which presents civilians the chance to "adopt", as in visit, clean, add flowers to and generally pay their respects to the resting place of a fallen British soldier.
Joining this project and to adopt "your" grave can cost something in the region of 5-10 euro per year. In return you receive a certificate and information about "your" soldier.
the project kicks off on the 10th March and more info can be found by googling: Valkenswaard war cemetary adoption program.
I'd asked the webmaster to post it on the forum but he was afraid that if anyone from the UK did adopt a grave, they wouldn't be able to visit the grave. Which is a fair point. However, I did also point out that some of you have a mate who lives this end and could do the business on your behalf.
It's a ways away from Leiden but we're going to adopt a Royal Welch Fusilier grave or two and visit when we can.
for more details : info@erfgoed40-45.nl mentioning the adoption.
I've added the facebook snapshot, hopefully it;s visible to everyone.
the war cemetary page can also be found on facebook.

Re: Valkenswaard War-graves: new project
I note from the website that we can still adopt a grave and then arrange to pay the Workgroup to place flowers on special occasions. Seems a good idea and I'll look into it.
