British Forces Veterans to have driving license marked
British armed forces veterans could have their driving licences stamped with a "V", as part of plans to improve the recognition of their service.
The move, similar to a US scheme, could see 2.5 million ex-military personnel issued with the new licence to "clearly distinguish" them as veterans.
The card would give holders easier access to specialist services and to offers, including retail discounts.
PM Theresa May said veterans deserved "recognition for their sacrifice".
The scheme, to be announced by the prime minister later, could be implemented in the early 2020s.
Mrs May will say the card will be the first universally recognised ID for veterans in the UK and will create a new proof of service for veterans.
The Ministry of Defence is working with the Department for Transport and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to adapt the design of the current driving licence.

It will be interesting to see how this goes its bad enough being a victim of identity theft if some department has information that these people are ex military and that gets in the wrong hands or am I now being paranoid

One thing does cross my mind what if you don’t have a driving license for what ever reason
Re: British Forces Veterans to have driving license marked
A very good point regards those who do not have a license. Could the system not be delivered by the MOD., in the form of an I.D., card. They already hold the necessary individual records, it would also provide a higher security aspect as the information would be retained within the MOD.
For myself just like Jones 20 have concerns that information could go astray.
Re: British Forces Veterans to have driving license marked
Not a good idea! How long ago was it decided that having ‘Government Service’ as employment on your passport was a security threat and it was therefore changed? Many people have been killed in the Middle East simply because they have their religion on their ID Card. Not a good idea at all!
