Read this article today could not see any benefit from it other then another data base for someone to hack into and gain information with the world as it is today would you want a terrorist organisation to gain access to it and find out where military vets live particularly as on of the options listed one was to mark your driving license that you are ex military
Re: Military veterans could have special ID cards as part of new monitoring plans

Re ID Cards... In relation to your enquiry about the recent press articles regarding personnel being able to retain their military I.D. cards on leaving the Armed Forces .The information available suggests that it is only for currently Serving Personnel as opposed to Veterans; however at present we have no further information on the matter. At this moment in time, the detail of how any type of I.D. card will be issued to Veterans is still being worked on and at present we don't have any further information to provide. Any announcement about the issue of cards, and where appropriate how to apply, will be published at www.gov.uk/veterans-uk when more information is available.Should you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us
Please find attached leaflet about Veterans servicesI hope this information is of help.Yours sincerely.Charles
