Major Peter Sutton MC - The Elizabeth Cross

On Thursday 16th June 2016 at Maindy Barracks, Cardiff, the family of Major Peter Sutton MC were presented with The Elizabeth Cross. The ceremony was conducted by Lt Gen Riley CB, DSO and the award received by Maj Sutton's daughter Emma and his son Jamie. They were supported by family members and former comrades, these included the families of Stan Nye and Roy Blewitt who both served with Major Sutton.

Also present was Col Clive Brennan MC, who was alongside Peter Sutton on that fateful day that he was injured and nursed him through the night, deep in the jungle as they waited for assistance. Sadly he was dead by the following morning. This was the first time the family had met Colonel Brennan, so it was a hugely important day for them.

A special thanks to Lt Col Kilmister and his team at Royal Welsh RHQ for once again going the extra mile to give the family of Major Sutton a very special day.
