Cpl DG Rowlands RWF - The Elizabeth Cross

Cpl David Rowlands of the 2nd Bn RWF was killed in an ambush, whilst leading his section in Malaya on the 6th December 1955. On Wednesday 9 Sept 2015 his families sacrifice was recognised by the nation, as his younger sister Maureen was presented with The Elizabeth Cross, at the Mayors Parlour Pontypridd by The Lord Lieutenant for Mid Glamorgan Mrs Kate Thomas CVO, JP.

Also present were members of Maureens family, along with four of Davids comrades from the Malayan Conflict. The Presentation was arranged and supported by The Royal Welsh RHQ, led by Colonel Kilminster(Regimental Secretary).

After the ceremony the family were gratified to receive two previously unseen photographs of David.
