Gallipoli Day - Saturday 25 April 2015
Saturday 25 April 2015 is the centenary of the beginning of the World War 1 Gallipoli Campaign, which involved almost half a million British and Empire soldiers, half of whom were to become casualties.
There will be national events in London to mark the occasion, but as all three of our antecedent Regiments took part in this campaign, it is felt that something similar should take place locally.
There will be a short Act of Remembrance at 12 noon on that day, to be held in the Regimental Chapel in Brecon Cathedral. Led by one of the Cathedral clergy, there will be some readings, a wreath laid, an act of dedication and a bugler will sound Last Post and Reveille.
The local Press will also be notified. It is hoped that as many of you as possible will be able to attend (grateful if you could let me know for planning purposes, please) and we can meet in the George Hotel for a drink afterwards if you wish.
