To be fair it was a bit like the immovable object meeting the irresistable force one was bound to lose. personaly my feeling is she was a human being and is dead and i had nothing against her personally so will be sorry for her family as i would for anyone that died.
She ensured the Services got better wages.... before they started to cut us !!!!!!
Hello All,
There is an old adage that states if you cannot speak well of the deceased then speak no evil.

Totaly agree mate, i must say i found the news of people holding street parties in celebration of her death in extremely poor taste.
I am a true Thatcherite, people say she ruined the country , all I saw was a lady telling you how it was and what the government was going to do about it and by golly she did it wether people thought it was wrong or right. She did us proud, pay wise and no one messed with us, the lady was not for turning and she stuck by that remark, even when her own party stabbed her in the back, my god we could do with a leader like her at this present time. RIP Maggie
hi.
I agree fully.she was great leader and for a while she put a little bit of Great back in Britain.
RIP Maggie.

The Armed Forces Pay Review Body's annual recommendations for pay increases were ignored for many years by the Labour government preceding the election of Margaret Thatcher. We were all really getting drastically under-paid and feeling quite poor. As a young married subaltern I remember how it was difficult to afford to pay for oil for my quarter, but fortunately there was plenty of wood to be gathered in the Tidworth woods owned by MoD. You may also remember the fuss kicked up in the national press when Major General Morgan Llewellyn, the Commanding Officer at the time 1976, caused controversy when he pointed out to a Manchester Radio program how poorly paid soldiers were compared to the firemen whose jobs we were doing in Manchester whilst they were striking for more pay.
Mrs Thatcher put this right, bringing the military salary back to where it should have been. It made a tremendous difference to our quality of life. Later we all benefitted from her concern about how the Armed Services had been ignored and her determination to put things right. What sort of country would we have appeared as, to the rest of the World, if we had backed out from restoring the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.
Thank you Lady Thatcher, whilst some of your actions may appear divisive to many, you certainly put the Great back into Great Britain. RIP
