A British soldier has died of gunshot wounds in Afghanistan after his patrol came under fire from insurgents. The soldier, from 1st Battalion, The Royal Welsh was part of a foot patrol to disrupt insurgent activity in the Nahr-e Saraj District of Helmand Province, when his patrol came under attack from small arms fire.His next of kin have been informed, the Ministry of Defence said. A British soldier has died of gunshot wounds in Afghanistan after his patrol came under fire from insurgents (file picture only)The MoD confirmed the soldier, who is expected to be named tomorrow, died today from gunshot wounds.
Lieutenant Colonel John Kerner, spokesman for British Forces Helmand, said: 'It is my sad duty to inform you that a soldier from 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh has died as a result of injuries sustained while on patrol in the Nahr-e Saraj District of Helmand Province.
There are many people we meet in life
