The Niblett Brothers

Any RWF comrades who knew my Uncle, Dennis Niblett, killed on Hill 112 July 17th 1944 or who was there at the time.
My father was also in the RWF and served in KIngston, Jamacia during the troubles and was in Berlin and Dresden at the end of WW2.
My uncle, Brian Howles also served in the RWF I think he served in Malaysia? not sure about that.
My father and I have visited Hill 112 on many occassions and paid our respects to 'The fallen' when over there, visiting my Uncles grave in St manvieu Cemetary, outside Caan. My father has collected a lot of memorabilia over the time. He wears not only his medals on rememberance days but also my uncles on his opposite side of his blazer jacket, in memory of the sacrifice made.

I hope many families keep the memories of their 'fallen ' alive and pass them down from generation to generation so they are not forgotten.

Thanks for your message. It certainly made me stop and think, and I will certainly read up on Hill 112. Your message also reinforces the strength of the link that all the members of our community have with each other: The Regiment.

I'm certain we have a small number of members who served in Berlin and Jamaica. I might be wrong, (and would love to be proved so), but I dont think we have any members from WW2, about 1946 is the earliest...I think.

Hi once again Lynn
The branch chairman Roy Taylor informed me on the meeting last night 26/10/06 that your uncle Brian Howles did serve in Malaya with the 2nd RWF Signals Platoon attached to Charlie Company, he was recently on the pilgramage back to Malaya with Roy and his party .

Also our branch vice chairman Alun Freeth served with your father in the 1st Bn RWF in Jamacia and remembers him very well.

I hope this bit of infomation is of some use to you, Roy will post some piccies of your uncle on their last trip to Malaya to you when he has collated them all.

One of our members "Trevor" did serve in Berlin and Jamaica, I note he has not read the thread yet. I wll email him the link. He is 77 and living off the coast of Queensland, Australia
