I have noticed in some of the photographs that I have viewed of late, that the cap badge worn is now placed over the left ear rather than the badge being over the left eye.
Can someone tell me if this now the norm and when did it come into effect?

There is no change. It is purely down to idleness, lack of personal pride or trying to be different. Happened in our time Roger with some individuals and it falls with J/NCO's to put it right. Post them to a Scottish regiment on loan if they want to wear that tradition.
Glyn, I was thinking of sending offenders to either the Scottish Bn's (they wear the glengarry over the left ear) or even the Royal Irish Bn's (they wear the "caubeen" with the badge being over the left eye/ear)
i think it is a bit more sinister than sloppiness :frownicon: i think our wonderful government is prepared
for a full amalgation with our euro cousins :nah: in the near future.
