OK guys & gals. I've been thinking about this for a while now....
Does anyone else do things they were taught when in the Regiment? I NEVER EVER step on manhole/ water/ fire hydrant/TV cable covers. This is from the Op Banner Tours i did. Also i say "Pit" when referring to my bed which gets quizzical looks from my civvie mates. Am i indoctrinated or just a weirdo? LOL Anything that you do today in everyday life that seems weird to civvies that have never served?
Patty uses a lot of words that usually had our kids going "huh?" ...Funny thing is now, at 17 and 21, they use them too :)) It also amazes me how Pat can take in a situation at a glance. Whether it's in a shop where people are getting ready to pounce and sell you stuff or driving and noticing little rabbits or whatever else in a field next to the road. Stuff which we never would have seen... "How the hell did you spot that" etc.
From a civvy perspective, I think it's great. Although I'm sure there are some things that might be less "fun".

You use acronyms thinking your civi mates will understand what you are talking about

Going out on Thursday "international army night out" wherever it may be, or whichever course one is on, involves forming the ring-of-steel, talking about ourselves and the army and aggressively staring at girls; who if they don't immediately come over are obviously lesbians.
Should any man dare break this ritual, and despite talking to the prettiest of girls - as we would like to do, if it weren't for the fact we tend to chew our own tongues and dribble - he is clearly gay!
You come out in a cold sweat if you find yourself still working after lunch on a Friday....
