Sad about Alex. He had his problems, but he was a character and a good played. RIP Alex.

The Hurricane RIP
Respect to his family but lets not forget he was a wife beating alcoholic drug user who assaulted officials. Not a good role model.
Jase exactly right what your saying, but only for this man snooker would not be what it is now, sometimes in life you must forgive and forget, and Alex Higgins the same as george best was managed in the wrong way he could and should have ruled the world for years,i can name thousands of people who beat there wifes up and take drugs, but that does not make you a criminal, anyway we should remember him as a champion.

I take your point mate, just trying to highlight the mans flaws as well as his achievements.
Jase,
Nice one, what you said originally was spot on,i was very surprised the way Clive Everton (snooker commentator)slaged him off on sky tv
i think over the years he fell out with a lot of people.

Hi All
Alex had his moments off the table , but on the table he gave the game the lift it needed , i was { still am } a big fan of Alex , and would never have watched snooker in the 70s / 80s if it had not been for this man , the hole package , the twitching the moving , and some how the ball went in .
the game has had great players since , but watching Alex was a joy & and with the color TV coming in about the same time , we all watched .
My favorite game was the come back against Steve Davis in the 83 UK final .
RIP Alex .
