Welcome to the July 2026 edition of the RHQ The Royal Welsh Newsletter. The centrepiece of this issue continues to be our 20th Anniversary "Party in the Park" at Cardiff Castle on Saturday, 12th September. As the main event of our anniversary year, interest has been exceptional, with over 1,750 tickets already claimed by serving personnel, veterans, and families.

On the operational front, the 1st Battalion brings us up to date on their deployment in Estonia for Op CABRIT. This issue covers their recent specialist training cadres, a visit to Tapa by the previous Defence Secretary, Dan Jarvis, and the Regimental Sergeant Major handover as WO1 Reynolds passes the pace stick to WO1 Waite. We also share news from the 3rd Battalion following the announcement that Lieutenant Colonel Oliver Pope will take over command in Autumn 2027.

This edition also includes coverage of the Regimental Band and Corps of Drums following their Annual Continuous Training week, which saw them perform at Armed Forces Day West, Canada Day celebrations at SHAPE, and the Taptoe in Brugge. In Regimental Association news, we report on the 2026 Welsh Veterans Awards, recent branch battlefield tours in Belgium and France, the annual inspection of the Regimental Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, and the community fundraising effort for the Cwmbran Memorial Garden.
