It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the passing of former Corporal Harold John Jones, who passed away on the 28th of May 2026. Harold served with the Royal Welch Fusiliers for 25 years as a Medic. Throughout his career, his service saw him posted to Germany and Hong Kong, and he completed operational tours in Northern Ireland.

The funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, the 23rd of June 2026, at Glyntaff Crematorium, Cemetery Road, Glyntaff, Pontypridd, CF37 4BE.

The attendance of Branch Standard Bearers is highly encouraged, where possible.

Following the service, attendees are invited to join the family in celebrating Harold’s life and sharing memories at the reception, which will be held at The Social Club/Legion, 55 Penrhiwceiber Road, Mountain Ash, CF45 3SN.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with his daughter, Susanne, and all his family, friends, and former comrades at this difficult time.

It is with deep regret that we inform the Regimental family of the passing of Mr Mervyn Ellis, who passed away peacefully on the 27th of May 2026, at the age of 71.

Mervyn enjoyed a full military career with the 1st Battalion, The Royal Welch Fusiliers, during which he completed five operational tours of duty in Northern Ireland. Following his service in the Regular Army, he settled with his family in Wrexham.

The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, 30th of June 2026, at 12:00 PM at Pentrebychan Crematorium, Pentre-Bychan Rd, Rhostyllen, Wrexham, LL14 4EP. Following the service, the family invites you to celebrate Mervin’s life at the Royal British Legion, 11 Maelor Road, Johnstown, Wrexham, LL14 1NB.

Branch Standards Bearers are invited to attend, if possible.

Dress: Regimental Blazer, Tie and Headdress with Medals.
