Hello Bertie,
In all probability they are the 1st Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers. As most people know they embarked for Afghanistan early in October. This is just an informed guess 'though.

Hello Scorch,
Sorry about the title I used. I am due to have my left eye operated on for a cataract correction then in about 4 months my right eye should be operated on. Plus the fact I some times adopt a Dinosaur mentality?
Hope all is well with every body in the 1st.

Richard,
Dont worry about the title used, We, the old Royal Welchmen knew what you where saying, no one seems to remember that The 1st Btn Royal Welsh is still, (for the time being) part of "The Royal Welch Fusiliers" if only in brackets.

Brian / Jungle,
Without turning this into a heated debate, Scorch is quite correct to point out it was the 1st Bn The Royal Welsh that marched through Chester.
None of us who are ex 1RWF will forget our routes and Jungle witnessed the pride that is still in evidence within the Bn from his day with us last month (generation dinner).
Please remember the majority of our junior soldiers now, only know the Royal Welsh and are justifiably proud to serve in either the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Bn and in that sense being part of the whole new ROYAL WELSH family. We as old and bold should allow these young boys to feel just as proud to be Royal Welshman as we did being Royal Welchmen,
As we prepare to deploy on ops in Afghanistan , I have no inclination to reopen a can of worms but please, out of respect to the junior serving members show a bit of courtesy to them by using the correct title,
1st Bn The Royal Welsh (Royal Welch Fusiliers) or 1 R WELSH (RWF). These boys will do the regiment proud over the next 6 months and in by doing so, will carry on the name of the Royal Welch Fusiliers forever , at the same time they will be carving a name in history for generations of future Royal Welsman to be proud of.
I hope this reply has offended no one or given the impression of arrogance or ignorance to past history (it is not my intent) I certainly know Scorch had no intention of raising heckles either with his observation.

Hello Vic 53,
A very nice reply and for my part I have not taken offence over my "Clanger". I do not think for a minute many other members of the forum were put out by it either.I take your point on your views both on your pride and new form of address. Many thanks.

Hi Vic
How is you and the family all well I hope.
Just to enhance your above post, as well know I do a little Volunteer Custodian work in the Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum at Caernarfon Castle and a lot of people ask me where are the RWF now?
My reply to them is quite simple, this is it here in the museum, but I then go on to explain the merger/amalgamation of the future large Infantry Regiment of Wales and the 1st Bn The Royal Welsh (Royal Welch Fusiliers) are stationed in the Dale Barracks Chester.
Please correct me if I am doing wrong? (I don't think so)
Keep Safe
Best Regards to You, Donna and the girls

Tom has had his posting changed he is now going to 36 Engr Regt at Maidstone.

So if we have any member who is posted at Catterick at this time please try and make sure that he is desting for the the Battalion of his wish, the one that he grew up in.
