Does anyone have any memories/photo's of our visit "down under"? We were guests of 7 RAR at Holsworthy Bks, Sydney.
Whilst we were there, we carried out a 2 week exercise in the middle of 250000 square miles of nothing in a place called Dubau and later had R+R in Canberra.
One of my abiding memories was the visit by the Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen Lucious towards the end of the exercise.
Whilst we all looked like we had spent a month down a coal mine!! CSM Brian Cooper (AKA "Mighty Mouse") was escorting the General in immaculately starched combats, bulled boots and a pace stick much to the amazement of all who witnessed this!!!
I was part of 6 PL, Lt John Boilieu Goad was PL Comd, Sgt Roger Christian PL Sgt, Sect Comds were John Lewis 04, Shaun McCormack and ? We also had Keith May, Allan Cairn and Allan Ankers as our L/cpl's.
Coy Comd was Maj Channing Williams and the 2ic was Capt "Dapper" Davies.
The CQMS was C/Sgt "Smokie Jo" Hughes (Forum member) Who brought us curry for breakfast......... lol.
Regards and thanks,
Jim.
