So very sad. Rally was a great bloke. I always remember him in the summer months, practising his golf swing by the Hightown maingate. I spent many happy hours chatting with him during my time at Hightown. He was part of the fixtures and fittings at RHQ Wrexham. A great loss, and I send deepest sympathies to Sandra and their family.

Rally and I worked together at Hightown Bks for 15 years, until his retirement in September 2008. I have also been in regular contact with him and his family after he retired and particularly over the past 6 weeks or so, since his diagnosis.

During the time we worked together I obviously got to know Rally extremely well and considered him to be, not only a work colleague, but a good friend! I visited Rally on two separate occasions last week (Monday and Wednesday) and felt humbled by the courage he displayed in the face of this terrible disease. It is true to say that Rally was a remarkable man, and that we are all poorer for this sad loss, he will be sorely missed.

My thoughts and that of my family are with Sandy, Paul, Karen, Stuart and the Grandchildren at this difficult time. I will ensure that all the heart felt kind words of the members are passed on to the family, I'm sure they will be greatly appreciated and help lift their spirits.

God Bless you Rally,

Jim.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all your kind thoughts and messages at what can only be described as the hardest thing that my mum Sandy, my brother Paul, myself, my husband Stuart and my children have ever had to endure. I know how much my father was loved by all of his family, but to receive your kind words of comfort only reiterates how much he was respected and thought of by others.

Good night pops, sleep well xxxxxxxxxxx

Oh Dear,

Another of my old pals taken far too soon, I wasn't even aware that he was ill.

Rally and I joined the Bn at Iserlohn within a few weeks of each other in mid 1963, he was Jones 44 then!

We both attended JNCO Cadres respectively and Rally excelled on his Cadre by coming top and being promoted to full Cpl as a result. Indeed, he was considered at the time to be a high calibre soldier with an abundance of potential and he certainly lived up to all expectations.

My wife and I offer our deapest condolences to Rally's family.

RIP old pal!

I knew Rally for only three years from his time working in Hightown. A true gentleman. Absoloutely gutted to learn of his passing. I too spent hours in his company happily chatting away. And having read earlier messages many others have had the same pleasure. Condolences to the family. God bless you Rally.

Rally would have been so proud by all those who were there yesterday and in particular his family!

The bond that Rally had forged during his life was there for all to see in Sandy and her children.

They too displayed a strength that was truly remarkable and I for one take my hat off to them.

I just want to personally thank Sandy, Paul and Karen, for allowing me the great honour to say a few words about a man I cared for greatly and will miss terribly!!!!

Hi,

The attendance at Rally's funeral was testimony to his popularity, with colleagues of all ages paying their respects - an assembly that filled both his memory and his family with pride.

The service was both moving and dignified - the readings and tributes quite touching.

It's over 30 years since we served together and the memories I have of our service, starting when we were recruits back in mid 1963 at Iserlohn, are very fond ones.

Words are of little comfort but my family and I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Sandy and her family at this very sad moment in time.

RIP old mate!!
