Hello! I am new to this site and am posting a message to see if I can find any trace of my father in law, John Jones who was born in1890, in Tyldesley, Lancashire. We know that he served in the army but the only info that we have is a photo of him in uniform, with what appears to be a RWF cap badge and metal clasp on his epaulette. His family had a strong connection with Wrexham (Pen y Cae).
We do not have a service number but although he was not very forthcoming about his service life he did say that at the end of WW1 he was sent to Ireland. I have looked up some history of the regiment and found out that the 3rd (Reserve) Battalion was posted to Limerick in 1917.
I know that trying to find the right John (Jack) Jones in a Welsh regiment is a daunting task but any help or advice will be gratefully received.
