An excellent idea.

Due to only 7 family members and 3 Regimental representatives being allowed to attend the repatriation service at the Airhead, many locals, serviceman/women past and present etc line the route through town. Absolutly everything stops in town to line the route, their dedication over the years has never wained. The town in general should be awarded with a distinction of some sort.

Hi,

Have posted this thread on the RRW site: http://royalwelshveterans.co.uk

The Sun, 04 Feb, has also run the petition, Help for Heroes.

The petition link they identify, however, connects you to the one we have already signed up to by George D Ryan.

Bye for now,

Hi Carl,

Total on line signatures 6327, as at 10 minutes ago - seems to have dried up a bit and in need of a kickstart!

I have generated a written petition from my local Club, for those not on line, with 127 names as at todays date. Other local Clubs in the area are doing the same and they will all be despatched to No 10 as one package. I'm confident that other agencies throughout the Country will be doing the same - not everyone has a computer!!

Nothing more from Parliament other than Petition closing date 27 January 2010.

Hope this helps.

Bye for now,

Hi,

Welcome to all our new members, hope you enjoy your time on the forum.

Can I draw your attention to the very first post on this thread which identifies the petition to Number 10 to rename the stretch of road (B3102), between Lyneham and Wooton Bassett, HEROES HIGHWAY/HIGHWAY FOR HEROES, and invite you to append your name accordingly.

Further details can be found at:

Myself and alot of others signed when the petition was created. I also beleive that Wooton Bassett become a Royal Town like Royal Tumbridge Wells.

It is believed that the Government will make a decision about the petition early next year.

Hi Rog,

For your info, the thread was aimed at new members and those who hadn't signed, not those who had already signed.

Petition close date is 27 Jan 2010, no decision will be made until after then.

Did a concert up in Wotton Bassett a couple of weeks ago in the church that rings the bell.Spoke to the Mayor after it, and he's all for it. I've signed and glad to do so.
