Being in the middle of a house move the wife and I came accross a box full of books that i had forgotten I had. One of the books was a old hard back book by an old Fusilier from the 2 RWF titled "Old Soldiers Never Die", about his experiences from the 1st world war. An exceptional read that I couldnt put down and I thoroughly reccomend it to anyone who has not had the pleasure of reading it.

Old Soldiers Never Die by Frank Richards DCM MM.

Frank Richards having been awarded the DCM and the MM certainly went through the mill. Thanks Rourkey, I will certainly look out for the book. It is of course true, "Old Soldiers Never Die", there are lots of them that live on in my memory.

Hello Rourkey & Nasher,
Frank Richards D.C.M./M.M. went through the Great War with out a scratch, he also refused promotion, His real name is Francis Philip Woodruff. the two books he wrote Old Soldiers Never Die and Old Soldier Sahib were both excellent reading.A lot more info is on my web site. As a point of interest his medals are not mentioned on his plaque in Pontypridd garden Of remembrance. I spoke to Margaret (Franks daughter) about this and it appears this was put down to an over sight??? for which all concerned are now a bit miffed over.
My web site is http://www.bridgendrwf.co.uk
