View Full Version : Somme 90th Anniversary

Birmingham Fusilier
11-05-2006, 20:26
Are any members of the forum travelling to the Somme for the 90th Anniversary. I shall be at Albert on the Friday evening and Beaumont Hamel on Sat 1st July for a private memorial. Then onto Thiepval for the official ceremony. There will be over 150 "British Tommies" at Thiepval and I will be the sole Royal Welsh Fusilier:- as the main emphasis is on the Pals Battalions. I will be going to the windmill on my own between Bazentin-le petit and High Wood to lay a wreath for the RWF following the ceremonies. This is the remains of the windmill Frank Richards writes about in Old Soldiers Never Die. The foundations are still there but difficult to find.

If you are going let me know and we can meet up perhaps.

Regards

Pete
