Yes, it's time for that "obligatory" Happy New Year post, full of cheesy good wishes and platitudes. I'm a bit late with my greetings this time, but let's just say that 2009 is proving to be challenging ... and it's still only January 1!

Seriously, though, the Forum had a very eventful 2008 - many successes and achievements, which is all down to you, the members. We thank you for your encouragement and feedback throughout 2008. On behalf of all the forum staff, I want to thank you all for being simply the best community there is and the longer we are able to run this forum, the more fun it becomes.

Let this coming year be better than all the others. Vow to do some of the things you've always wanted to do but couldn't find the time. Call up a forgotten friend. Drop an old grudge, and replace it with some pleasant memories. Vow not to make a promise you don't think you can keep. Walk tall, and smile more. You'll look ten years younger!

I wish all our members, friends and family the very best of health, and a prosperous New Year.

Seriously, a happy New Year to all Royal Welchmen (23rd Regt of Foot), Royal Welshmen (23rd, 24th and 41st Regts of Foot), forum members and families, lets hope the forthcoming year is better than the last year, prosperity to all and good luck and a safe tour for 1 RW in the latter part of the year.

A very happy, properous and safe 2009 to all forum members. I don't intend to be as philisophical as Bob's message, but just to say, that I'm sure we all wish the 1st and 2nd Btn's, together with those members of the 3rd Btn Royal Welsh who will support them on their deployments, a successful and safe 2009/10.
Just to flag up a couple of events happening in early 2009.
The Royal Welsh will receive the freedom of Ceredigion at the end of April 2009 and I'm lead to believe that they will also recieve the same honour from Carmarthenshire during 2009 as well (dates not yet firmed up).
