View Full Version : Whittington brks lichfield
I am aware most of the lads in the 1stBN from late 80s to 2007 ware trained, or trained, soldiers at the barracks.
I drove past the barracks the other day i noticed that B coy and C coy blockes have been pulled down to make way for the new camp.Which will be ready by late 2010 for the medics.

I was in Plassey plt with Chris Jones 23 as Plt Sgt back in 1991. The block was next to the cook house which was sometimes useful. like many others had a good time there.

I went through training there in Dec 93, Posted as Sec Comd there in 98 and was fortunate enough to return as pl sgt in 2005 before the closure. Had many a good time there and will sorely miss the place. Im only glad that the Regimental Church will remain in place as will the Memorial wall listing the Fallen Comrades within 1 RWF who shall never be forgotten.
i was salamanca paltoon 91, alfie hughes as my sction commander, many a beasting, but enjoyed it.

I did my Drummers course in Lichfield in 91 , i was drunk every weekend but always seemed to have money ? . Have to say though that it was the worst food i ever had in my whole time in the army.I lived on pot noodles and burgers from the burger van that was open at night .
