Anyone been watching Combat Chefs on the TV. This weeks episode had me in stitches watching a chef called Shaky Davies sweating and shaking through a Tri Service catering competition.

On a similar note we had our Army Careers Office Xmas party last Friday in a overpriced poor standard establishment in Cardiff Bay, the meal was bogging and if they had been Army chefs I would have jailed them all. Oh for the days of Regimental Xmas dinners and mess functions where the food was in my opinion fantastic. I dont believe we really appreciated how well off we were.

I appreciated all of them Colin. In fact I got appreciated as a Newt at most of them. Wonderful memories that cannot (in my opinion) be matched anywhere else. How lucky we were!

All the chefs are doing a great job on that series and doing themselves proud, but who does that overweight prat of a major think he is. Comments like "you put food like that in front of me again and you'll be wearing it" I'm sorry but are there still D**k HEADS like that in the army?

Troops these days are over worked and under paid and dinosaurs like him are really not needed!!!

I suspect he's been in London district for a long time and avoiding the marathon like the plague!!!

Just my opinion

Short answer Sid,yes lots of them but not just in the Army. I suspect he is just playing to the camera.Perhaps he is trying too be the Simon Cowell of the Catering world. He certainly does not display the Army in a good light, fat arrogant pig.

I Agree Fat Ba......ds like him put the army in a Bad light (and not just by the shadow he projects) and he is criticizing guys worth 10 of him,

The Chefs I have know throughout the army including the regimantal Chefs have been stars, and I also miss the days of real Cookhouse Christmas dinners, Disclaimer "although the wife makes a cracking dinner"
