Sorry to Hi Jack this thread, but it could be " titlled "My run in's with the Monkey's" has the potential to be a long one...
Becket (Slanger/Snake) & myself had been to Ludergersall to get a takeaway it was late, I was on my bike with Slanger on the back wearing his steel helmet complete with scrim blowing in the wind.
Just outside Tidworth the Monkeys flashed us to stop, I took off, they attempted to follow in their Landrover, blue lights going, I ducked & dived my way thru the barracks hid the bike & ran like hell. (I was legal but I don't think a tin lid met the correct BSI standard).
I've never forgot the Reg No of the bike CNT 95L.
Where is Becket now ????

Rich 16,
I remember that night I was in the front and we were racing back to get in the Band Club before BSM Jock Lawson could call time.

I remember that lift with rib what good times they were, C company were destined to be the odd ones out as soon as the company colors were hoisted upside down on the formation parade, 10 points for the name of the person that raised the flag!!

Guvs,
I can see him but I can't name Him? Was he by any chance Regimental Police? If he was I think I may come up with the answer.

Guvs,
I've got it L/Cpl Davies, Regimental Police.
Hi Paul.
I did'nt know his name but knew he was on the RP staff,
Remember "Me shirt, Me fire" we got away with some things in Tidworth.
For some reason L/Cpl Lew 18 has just come to mind ref: the RP that put the flag up upside down, dont know why but could it of been him ?

Guvs,
You are absoloutly right it was Lew 18. Should have got it first time he was from Shrewsbury. I understand he is still about although don't know where.
How could anyone forget "Me Shirt, Me Fire"!
One thing about 9 Plt I could not forget, we were the hardest working Plt in the Btn. Bust our gonads all week in Charlie Coy and then work all weekend with the Band whilst the rest of Charlie Coy were on the lash.
Just not fair.
Mind you we had our ways in making up for it. "Work Hard, Play Hard".
must have been a different 9 platoon then i always remember 7 and 8 platoon coping all the guard duties etc as the drums were always off playing with the band

Hi Guvs & Paul ill stick up for you lads on that one remember seeing Benny's hands covered in blisters and they where a mess after the mad season and the count wanting the max out of you all before releasing the Pl to do the band jobs sorry slip of the tounge Band & Drums. God please dont get me going on memorys of the rattle again to many flash backs to cope with at my age? My kidds would not belive me as I am such a role model now working in a secondary school. Remeber the company club in in Tidworth and the perk of having our room opposite it, Great days and Gerry Crocker bless him never stopped on the Company runs. Every time me and Benny stoped you could hear him shouting us never got a break or managed a short cut he even knew it was us when we where fully masked up on the crazy NBC runs. What warriors we where? lol

Sorry 20,
Everybody in the Btn only ever did Duty Company for a week and CSM Gerry Corcker got his pound of flesh out of the Drums on the week days. We would'nt have minded doing a Saturday or Sunday every six weeks. Anyway, can't be in two places at the same time can you!
