It is with great sadness that I have to report the death on Sunday 2nd November of Alun Valentine-Jones at the age of only 42 years. As you know, Alun was the secretary of Wrexham branch, although he had just taken a leave of absence due to continuing health problems, after having had his leg amputated this year.

Details of the funeral service will be forwarded once known.

Sympathy cards to:

Mrs Andrea Valentine-Jones

I am very sorry to hear of this very sad news. Please pass on my sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

I very much respected his wholehearted unstinting commitment to everything which he undertook. He was a great asset to both the RWFCA and the Royal Welch community and will be greatly missed. His forum username was: taffylooneytoon. He joined us on Mar 16, 2006

I enclose a few lines by the famous Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson, which I think are appropriate.

"He has achieved success who has lived well,
Laughed often and loved much;
Who has gained the respect of intelligent men
and the love of little children;
Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
Who has left the world better than he found it;
Who has looked for the best in others
and given the best he had;
Whose life was an inspiration;
Whose memory is a benediction."

On behalf of the Bargoed & Blackwood Branch I would like to pass on our sincere condolances to the family of Alan, "Val".

On a personal note I am in deep shock, many a time Al would phone me or me him to chat about things especially when he was going through all his health problems and he seemed in good spirits when we chatted at the Reunion. He was a great guy and will be missed

RIP Val

What a massive shock. Alun was a staunch Royal Welchman, and great supporter of this site under the guise of "Taffylooneytoon". As a Comrade he was 110% committed to the RWF and his branch. The loss of a Alun at such a young age is a tragedy.

My thoughts go out to his family.

We are all in deep shock here in the Shotton and Deeside Branch RWFCA to hear of Alan's sad Death. All our thoughts go out to Andrea and family and friends and Comrades'

I too like Paul, had many a chat with Alan over RWFCA matters as Hon Secretaries. Alan was a good up and coming Branch Secretary who worked very hard for the Wrexham Branch and his heart was RWFCA through and through. It's such a shock that Alan has been taken away from us at such a young age. Goodbye Comrade and may you rest in peace.

Deepest Sympathy from Benny and family, all at the Shotton and Deeside Branch RWFCA.
