THEIR heroics include landing a plane having been shot in the leg while flying, and single-handedly wiping out a German machine-gun post.
Now the extraordinary exploits of Wales’ Victoria Cross winners have been detailed in a new book to be launched on Saturday.
Heart of a Dragon, launched at Caernarfon Castle, tells the stirring stories of war heroes like Rupert Hallowes of Port Talbot, who continually braved machine gun fire to bring ammunition and bombs to colleagues, and even attempted to “cheer up” fellow soldiers as he lay dying in Belgium during World War I.

I have had the honour of meeting the author of this very interesting book. And I can confirm that these books are very well researched. I worked with his son as a Tutor constable in Wrexham. His son now works as a Sergeant in Sid's station. (Sid, it's Mark Williams 2202 father). No doubt, Sid will now be trying to get a signed freebie!!!

I also recommend these books, volume 1 (1854-1902) and Volume 2 (1914-1982). They are very well researched and presented with over 1400 photographs, prints, drawings and documents and excellent value for all the work that has gone into them.
Well done Alister.

My son bought me this book for my birthday. It really is an excellent read. Thoroughly enjoying it.
