View Full Version : How do I find information about my Father
Hello everyone
My Father was in The Royal Welsh Fusiliers during the 2nd World War,every time we asked him about it he would not talk about it,he died a number of years ago,I have posted on a number of sites to try and find out who to contact but to no avail,can anyone tell me who I should address my enquiries to,to find out his details it is not just his military record the information would help me find out about his extended family any help would be most appreciated.

My fathers name was George Davies he was born on the 12th July 1914 I have a number from an old diary I am assuming it was his Military No it is 4203070 he was also a member of the Liverpool Branch of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers Comrades Association at The Strand in Bootle Jim Rawlings was the Chairman at the time the No could have something to do with this it must have been 20/30years ago if there is any more information that I can help with please let me know.

Hi if you go to the MOD web site on to army records office you may be able to trace your dads record there good hunting :biggrin:
Hi my father was also in the RWF he was posted to Egypt / Sudan before the second WW .He was taken prisoner at Mervil in France he spent some time in stalag xxa.If you want to find out about your father write to Historical Disclosures Ketigen House Glasgow(best to check address on web) providing you have his name and service number you should find out a fair bit.It does cost around £25/£30 but well worth it.My dad never said much about the war either I think its something hard for for civilians to know what combat is like even when you see it on the news.Good luck with your research Mark
