With great sadness we must report the sad news that Karl Stowell has been taken from us. He died sometime this morning (date and time to be confirmed). We don't know anymore details at the moment.

Karl will be sadly missed by those of us who had the pleasure of knowing him.

On behalf of all the members of the Royal Welch Forum, I would like to offer our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to his family and friends at this terrible time

A truly remarkable soldier and courageous man. Respected and admired by all. My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Gail, their children and family. Rest easy Karl.

He is Gone

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your
back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.

I have been asked this morning by Karl's wife Gail to pass on the following to the Forum members:

Gail wants to say a massive thank you for all the kind words and support that she and the family have received so far at this horrible time. Knowing that Karl is so well thought of has been of great comfort. Gail will obviously read the posts herself in due course, when she feels the time is right. Gail has also stated that she and the kids will be at Wrexham to watch the parade. And she has said that she knows that Karl will be looking down on us all too. x

Karlos, I don't know where to start mucker. You are without doubt one of the bravest and most inspirational people I have had the honour to call a friend. Not once, from the very beginning did I ever hear you moan or whinge about your illness, although we all realise how much it must have affected you. I will only ever remember the good times that we shared mate, and when I am tempted to moan about the most trivial of things, I will think of your example. I would also like to say that Gail, you are one of the strongest people I have ever met, and another brilliant example of holding your head up high when the odds are against you. Special thoughts also to Leon and Georgia at this awful time for you.

I know there are so many who have been there for Karl and the family, but I just want to say to Andy(Harrison) and Greg(Plimley) that you did him proud lads.

God Bless, Sleep safe Karlos, I will never ever forget you mucker. x x x

Thanks for putting his photo up Beefy.
all the nice things that have been said about him makes sense to me now, and others of my generation probably that didn't know him as well as you lot knew him, I can only second what Dutchman has said.
It looks as if the 7th (heaven) Battalion have got themselves another cracking member to join them in the ranks, I'm sure he will be as well loved up there as he has been with us down here.
Joe has told me a bit about him and I know her and Rob thought the world of him and his family, my thoughts go out to them at this sad time. R. I. P.

On behalf of my family and myself i would like to pass on my sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to Karl's family on such a sad day. RIP MATE
i would now lik to quote a poem for Karl's family which a carry with me since my brother passed away many years ago if thats ok:-

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

Yesterday WO2 Greg Plimley and Lt Fox ran the Snowdonia Marathon to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Care. As you all know the MacMillan nurses enabled Karl's wish to be at home become a reality. They were a tremendous support to Karl, Gail, Georgia and Leon, and still are. Please visit the below link to sponsor/donate for such a worthy cause.
