The First Battalion arrived in Cork on 02 Oct 1907 and remained there until it arriving in Dublin in Oct 1910. The Battalion moved to Portland in Nov 1912.

On moving to Cork, the battalion went in for hockey, boxing, football and, among other successes won the Local Senior League Football challenge Cup and the Munster League Football Cup. When moved to Dublin in 1910 and on to 1912 they won the Irish Army Football Cup and the Irish Army Boxing Cup.
