I have received an invitation from the above "Ex Service" association, courtesy of RHQ RRW, to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on the afternoon of 21st July 2008.

I am attending, and would be interested if any other forum member has received such an invitation or attended such an occasion in the past.

Bye for now.

Barbara and I had an invitation a few years ago. We thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and most of the Royals were in attendance. As I recall it was a very warm day and the hospitality tents were packed!
We booked into a hotel the night before and took in a West end show, which was excellent.

My wife and I attended as the guest of the High Sheriff of Powys for services rendered whilst a serving Police Officer.

It is a marvelous occasion which you will thoroughly enjoy.

The cucumber sandwiches were delicious!!

Hi,

Attended the Garden Party yesterday and quite enjoyed the occasion, as those of you on the Forum said I would. The icing on the cake, however, was bumping into Tony & Carol Corbett, Don Matthews and Dennis Speake (London Branch). Most of the afternoon was spent reminiscing old times, characters, families and updating events. Time flew so fast, it always does when your enjoying yourself, and it was soon time to leave. Indeed, the London Branch had their AGM last night, I'm not sure whether Tony was attending.

Wouldn't mind going again next year!

Tony has not been well recently, he was, however, in good spirits yesterday. I shall be sending a PM to the Forum Upper Echelon accordingly.

Bye for now
