I am trying to find out about the following on behalf of his grandson who is in poor health
Joseph Tate Williams (nb the middle name is on his gravestone but we can find it nowhere else so he may have assumed it in later life) was born c 1870, Wales (possibly Siloh Bach Mission), d Caernarfon 12 June 1940.
He is said to have served in the 1st and 2nd battalions of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers, which he joined c 1885.
His first posting was to Lucknow in the late 1880s, and he received the Black Mountain (North West Frontier) Medal in 1891. His term having expired he left in 1894, and in 1898 he went to the US where he served in the Spanish American War.
He is known to have been back in Wales in 1927 where he was manager of the Pwllheli camp (I do not know what this camp was).
Any information on Joseph would be very much appreciated.
Thank you
