I can't remember the names of all the pubs I used to know so well. Having said that I couldn't legally use any until 3 years after I left home/joined the army anyway.

So for starters, from Ruabon road to the town centre.

1st pub on the right - nope, can't remember what it's called, next .......

A bit off route but hang a right down Wellington Road and you have the Fairfield Tavern (I used to live on Fairfield st, so had to mention that one)

The Swan, what a dive

The bowling green (junction of Colmere st)

The Red Cow

The Albion

(6 pubs within easy staggering distance of home, what a town!)

The Caernarfon Castle

The Kings arms/hotel? (Total dive)

Cambrian Vaults and The Commercial

Two pubs on the High st - can't remember the name of either, one each side of the road, left hand side quite trendy, right hand side, bit of a dump.

Wynstay arms/crest motel.

Hang a right down the hill (Yorke st?) pub on left - forget the name

Nags head, oldest pub in Wrexham I think.

Keep going (left) Green Dragon

Travellers rest

OK I've left the town centre now, got carried away - what's the names of the ones I can't remember, did I miss any, have any gone, what are they all like anyway?

Oooh - oooh - somewhere between the Nags head and the green dragon - The Tudor?

The two pubs were the Embassy on the right and the Golden Lion on the left, the one on York St was the Black Horse. Zac and I, run the Kings Head for a month and it was a lovely place !

The Caernarfon and the Kings have long gone now, its been demolished for redevelopment. Not sure what they have planned for it.

Thanks Dai - I believe you know Fairfield st too - esp No 29?

The Ruabon road one has come back to me now too, the Royal Oak, or maybe the Oak Tree?

The Horns which was near the Odean cinema was a true Royal Welch pub during 59/60's, I had the pleasure of falling down the stairs once or twice, happy days.

I seem to remember one night in 1957 a rather large table disappearing through the front window of the "Horns" Somthing to do with the fact we didnt get on with the Royal Pioneer Corps next door
