Being Welsh Abroad

Dil's picture of his Welsh Flag made me realise we have the same tea towel...and probably a lot more besides. My Mam has sent us so much Cymruobelia since we moved abroad I've started to give it away as pressies. So hands up, do you have tons more Welsh stuff in the house since becoming an ex-pat than you ever would have if you still lived in Wales. :biglaugh:

I don't have much Welsh stuff about - just a few photos of time in the Bn really.

But I sing in The Brighton Welsh Male Voice Choir - doubt if I'd get in a real Welsh one!

Sharon im ashamed to say ive got nothing with me other than my golf club covers having the welsh dragon on them, But i will be wearing one massive leek on Saturday,

Yep! Lots of Welsh "Stuff" around the house and more given when either folks visit here in Canada or when I pop home. Fortunately most are quite tasteful and bring back fond momories of growing up in Wales and my time with the RWF.
Something I will always cherish is the Davy (Davey) Lamp my father used when he worked underground in the mines. He gave it to me before he passed away a few years ago.
Although nicely settled here in Canada I will never forget my roots and have never missed celebrating St. Davids Day wherever I may be. In fact, tomorrow I will be making a big batch of Welsh Cakes ready for the weekend.

I have not got as much as I thought, The Flag of course which flies in my garden and photos of the RWF Rugby tops Welsh various, I have given many welsh gifts to family & friends in France Flags & dragons..

But one thing is for sure people whom meet me once never mistake me for English on our second meet!

I have rugby related items, around the house and my boy whom is 4 has 4 well used rugby balls but only one football which is gathering dust.

And Like Soxs I will have the biggest Leek I can find on Saturday plus the dafs in my garden are booming marvelous!

Being Welsh is Best of Breed so proud that we have something so real special meaningful and envied by all not that other country whom wear the white the Hinze 57 bunch what a mix!

I dont really need all the bits and pieces to remind me that I am living in a strange and foreign land and not back home in Gods country. I am constantly reminded (by my next door neighbour) that I am a sheep worrying Welsh Git, especially as we are doing so well in the rugby. I do have a photo of the New Severn bridge from the English side, and one day, when I have saved enough I am going to cross that bridge and visit the Land of my Fathers. ( Nay lass do not feel sorry for me- a collection might be nice though!) Dilwyn I will be thinking of you eating those wonderful Welsh cakes. I will have to make do with another damn Cream Tea with scone and double clotted cream. I tell you, the sacrifices you have to make when being a Welshman Abroad.

Barry less of the Hinze 57 I get flash backs to my school boy days of all those times I was called "Hind Beans & bacon burgers" Sharon I am proud to have a large piece of Welsh slate with a large Red Dragon and Peioiwch anghofio eich Cymraig (Never forget your Welsh) at least i hope it says that? (my neighbours & postman wouldnt have a clue any way so who cares) presented to me by Charlie (Peter) Fenton and the lads on the RRT before taking up the LSL post in Oldham England. God I wish I could have talked Gill into moving to Wrexham. Any way the slate is in my porch under the porch light and never does a day go by when I dont pass it and it reminds me of the great times I had like tapping the table and listening to Running Bear by Gwyn and my own rendishon of Tommy & Laura even if it did choke Gwyn Nick and in the Morning I will be wearing my Saint Davids day leak with pride. Yes its the one I was given in Berlin.

Sox, cant believe you have not got your pad in the dessert kitted out in Welsh stuff mucker. Do you see anything of Gringo? He is home at the moment and if he is going anywhere near you, I will send lots of stuff out with him for you mate. Awww Scouse, what a star you are!!

We have a Welsh Slate thing too Beano, it's round and engraved with the dragon. Someone asked us if it was the Welsh Griffin -- deep breaths and answer with "No, it's bloody not a griffin!!"..and "No, Wales is bloody NOT "part of England" ...:rolleyes:

Scouse i can only crudely imagine what foreign bodies u would send me in the post so i think il pass on that one mucker all the same. I had some strange looks on the golf course saturday sporting my leek, i should of had a flag hanging off the buggy, next year i will be better prepared.
