Paul,
Mel was in the Corps of Drums when the Bn went to Singapore in I think 1962 or 63, the next time I saw Mel he was working in the MRS.
A very quite and nice man, may he rest in peace.
Regards,
Joe

Our Deepest Sympathies to Gwen and the family.

What sad news. Mel was a great guy, a real gent. Mel was also one of the stalwarts of the original forum on Delphi, regularly chatting and adding his own brand of humour to the hilarious banter taking place.
He and Gwen rescued us when we missed the train in Wrexham a few years ago, driving us to Chester just like that, we were so grateful but he thought nothing of it.

A fantastic person who I'm sure will be sorely missed.

Spent a lot of time with Mel - many, many years ago - very saddened to hear of his passing. RIP my old mate!

OMG!! I thought it was odd that we'd not heard from him and he wasnt at the Reunion in September. I can't believe it, I feel like someone has just kicked me. I remember him from when dad was Med Sgt, what a fantastic bloke. Dad used to say he made the best cuppa and often could be heard shouting "Holt put the kettle on!" I bet he's saying it again now.
Please let Gwen know I'm thinking of her.
