Hello Prov,

Welcome to the Forum, I do remember you from Ballykinlar. I think I last spoke to you at the Bosnia Homecoming in 1995, with Phil Jones. I'ts been a few years since you have been into the RWF Forum, I think it was on the old site. Quite a few ex A Coy on here, the likes of Rab Warren, Jimmy Timmons, Sid (brother of Larry) Burns, Will 86, Patty 43 etc.

Good to have you back

Hi Ap1,

I see a lot of names I recognise.....Like Rab Warren,Trav, Algate, judging by how many have looked at the thread, there are probably alot more that I know... every so often I bump into Roy Price, Rhigos/Hirwaun and through the RRW Comrades in Aberdare I have also met up with Phil Rees, It was quite strange really There was Phil's Father, a company commander and one of the old comrades that served under him, all those years ago, 60+

Then Phil, who was my Company commander, it felt really strange but really good, been down to his Fathers place near Camarthen....

Over the years I let things slip away but the warm welcome from everyone, really makes me feel good.....

Just remind everyone, I joined 3Plt in Oct 86' at Tern Hill...What do I remember best ?? apart from friends and comradeship.....Soda Farls from the kitchen in RUC Corry Square in Newry.....mmmmm... Oh there are other things...But I don't want incriminate myself !!

Thanks All....

Pat Prov

PS, any Radio Hams out there????????

Rab Warren didn't you have a ford capri in Tern hill ?? was your mate Chico ?? Shadwell, if I'm right and it's you, do you remember us doing a tour around the Fa..s rd in your Opel Manta??? If not there's another one out there somewhere.....All these name's really got those alarm bells ringing now.....

Hey Pat
Glad to see your in the forum, don't think you will remember me i was a good mate of Daryl Matthews we trained together he went into A coy and i went into D coy, we met once in the NAAFI after your injury but the moment probably meant more to me than you.i still speak to guys that were involved in the tour of 87 -89 and your name always comes up wondering how you are etc so really good to see you here, i have nephews in the regiment now half my age and life in the regiment seems to be treating them well, God willing, i myself buggered off to NZ and remain here to this date, but great to hear your about.
Well Pat glad your on the forum, talk again soon
Love to all

Hi Paul,

Nice call mate, well I really dunno what to say except I'm really taken back by your comments mate....what you just said really makes me feel proud to have had that sort of impact on you, I do remember meeting some guys during one of my almost secret trips back....the Medical unit didn't like it.......I remember one comment from someone, don't know who though.....it went something like this...you must be hard, your a hard bas....d and then someone said we know you mate your part of the Battalions history !!!

Well I'm not sure whether they realised what the said......but how proud I was that those guys knew of me and the respect and friendship showed was awsome I now have 5 children and a great wife......Awaiting medicals now as we have applied to get down to Australia....permanantly...Wife is a Nurse, if the meds go ok we hope to be down near Brisbane by the end of March 09.... we met in Woolwich during my tour there after XMG....

I gotta pop out for a while but I'll be in contact again soon and give you an update on life so far, it aint been all bad......... glad your enjoying NZ, Paul,

Cheers

Pat.. Provo Provis... It really is a small world mate !!

Hi Pat its Beano Hind Little Beanos (A Coy) brother, Was stuck in the Sigs stores for most of that tour or in the swimming pool, Great to hear you are doing so well mate and keeping busy good luck with Oz hope it comes off for you. All the lads are right about reunions I had no contact for 9 years after moving to Manchester and went back last year to the league of friends which made me realise no matter how long away from the Regiment once a Royal Welchman always a Royal Welchman and that bond stays with us all no matter what the age or when we served. I fully intend getting to Wrexham this year hope to see you there.

I think all you guys will be proud of me mate as I am of you, It hasn't been all easy.......But as they say.... you gotta take the rough with the smooth.....I think that's the same for everyone as they go through life though mate.....I have fond memmories of Tern Hill, BK, QEMH etc etc, even during the bad times mate I had some very good one's....Especially in hospital....I'm just sorry that I couldn't serve on, with you guys....
