I have managed to secure the services of a Kew Researcher for the RWF Forum. The person concerned makes regular visits to the National Archive and has been used by both myself and Richard Ward.

On instruction from a Forum Member, the researcher will make a simple search of the Burnt Records Series at The National Archive Kew, files Wo363/364. These files relate to soldiers service records from the Great War.

If the researcher is successful and identifies your ancestors record, there will be a fee charged of £10 plus photo copy costs. If the researcher fails to find the relevant record, there will be No Fee. This represents excellent value

The minimum criteria for the search is the: Soldiers Full Name and Service Number

This type of facility for our site has been long overdue. Hopefully those members who are researching family histories, and live away from London, will benefit from this service. Remember this service is purely for a simple search.

More details to follow.

Now the small print:

Method of payment will be arranged privately between both parties, and the RWF Forum, plays no part in the contract formulated between both parties. Neither does the RWF Forum receive any fee, and accepts no responsibility for any failed transactions, or disputes.

Al,

Is the name of the researcher going to be revealed? Is he or she a member of the Forum?

How will members pass on their instructions - will it be by posting them in the Military Genealogy forums or is there an email address available?

Still sorting that out with the guy concerned at the moment. Hopefully he will join the forum, which will make contact easier. Failing that, I will obtain his permission to publish his email details
