I'm Trying to find out which one of my great Uncles served with one the of the RWF Battallions out in India, but don't know which one, he would not have been an O'Shea but a Shea because O didn't arrive until my fathers birth onwards. I can remember my Fathers cousin showing me photos of him in a karki uniform lying on the ground in the prone position when he knew i had joined the Royal Welch. This has stuck with me for years and listening to Shaun McCormacks story this has spurned me on. Is there anyway i can find out what 23rd regiment served out in India
Any Help would be appreciated I know theres not alot to go on but I hope someone out there can help.
Cheers RiK.
Who ever finds him can come to the next Drums reunion has my Guest.

Pte 5111 Shea M J. 1st Batt.left uk for France 2/11/1914.Killed in action. No crimes listed against him. His papers after his death listed him as O'Shea.

Hi Rik
I don't have a place of birth for any of these three boys. I think the only way to check is to search at the National Archives and keep your fingers crossed that the service papers survived the bombing during WWII.
Do you know the date and place of birth of your Great Uncle ?

My Great Grandfather was Henry Shea he had 4 sons William, George & Alfred shea and my grandfather Dennis he didnt serve he was not medically fit. George was killed in a hit and run in Neath whilst home on leave. Alfred could be A.F Shea, D.C.L.I like I said There is no one alive to confirm this no longer I think.
