Yep i remember this guy,

I was Mortors attached to A coy in Bosnia. I remeber Fry packed his bags and went for a "walk"!!! got picked up down the road. He also wouldnt go on stag, sat in the guard room, placed a blanket over his head and threatend to shoot him self.....the only reply he got was from one of the lads ..... "Dont make a mess...Ive just cleand that F**king floor"

I remember Mr Fry very well, he had problems soon after arriving so was kept in Camp untill we could get him out on a convoy. After he packet his bags and walked out through B Coy gate he was picked up by a muslim patrol heading out of town towards no-mans land.

He was well out of there before the shelling started, i think Jimmy Timmins was his PL Sgt so that would have contributed to his troubles!!!!!

Don't know the guy personally, but like Mike says the shelling had not yet started when he left, up to the May we still played volleyball and run through the town over the bridges and back, so must be other issues here?

Guess the press have their dates wrong 1993 bit early,

Maybe the A Coy CSM at the time drove him that way playing to much of Phil Collins pre deployment, I know it drove me mad on one extra long convoy Mike? and I like Phil Collins. LOL

Cant remeber if he was mine or Rabs busy tour and all that , but remember him being a night mare, i think he may have been in the other half of the Platoon with the Pl comd and the mortar lads Kinny and Chink. yes can vouch with Mike that he was on walk about and he was sent out on first available convoy. Im sure he was placed in the guard room for his own protection so the lads on stag could keep an eye on him. He was a blagger, but seems to me hes one of those blokes that always has problems, well at least he got a council house with a roof over his head, thats more than what the council would give me and its more than a lot of people get. Yes and im sure he was from the Pyle area.

Beano, it has to be better than listening to freddy mercury m8, 2 years of that playing in the mess bar is enough to drive any 1 mad

yeah i remember him a proper mincer who was in my platoon, sox Pl Sgt, bruce payne Pl Comd. bluffed his way out of gzd and never got to do a days soldiering out there, he was in nige 99s section though so he may have a slight case for mental torture problems there

You've gorra laugh though - I did....

"A FORMER soldier who suffered post-traumatic stress after serving in war-torn Bosnia has been given a council house on the edge of one of Britain’s busiest tank firing ranges."

You have to wonder how the conversation went at the County Council housing office.

"Hey, Fred, we've got this ex squaddie with PTSD needing housing"

"What caused the PTSD"?

"Bombing, shelling .... big bangs and stuff ..... where d'ya reckon we should house him"?

"Hmmmm, let me see ......."
