I would like to endorse Al’s sentiments below. As the Yuletide song says, Christmas is the most wonderful day of the year. But as many of us recover from too much alcohol and an inexhaustible supply of turkey, we should spare a thought for those who must spend Christmas away from their families and friends.
So take a moment to say Merry Christmas to our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world, particularly those members of D Company, 1 R WELSH.
As they go about their duties, we pray that they will be safe and comforted by all those here at home thinking of them. We thank them for their courage and sacrifice, and to let them know they are not forgotten as they are away from their loved ones during the Christmas holiday.
I join Al and the rest of the Team in wishing each and every one of them, and you, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
