View Full Version : Depot/crickhowell
Hello again people.Any of you that were at the depot 70/80s do you remember if there was a trophy played for in football.called the graham allston trophy .a young lad i did my training with sadly died in training .and i had heard that a trophy was to be named in his memory..just wondered if it was ever made/played for...any info would be great.. the chap came from haverford west and joined the depot with me ..sep.7th 1972...
I did my training there in 76 and our platoon never saw or took part in any football competition, best person to ask could be Derick Adams he was a PTI there at the time, so would be more in the know?
Cheers

I did my training in sep 72 korea platoon and never heard anything regarding a footy trophy.
I was there in the early 70s. I never heard of the trophy. I remember Graham Allston. He died in a caving accident.

Hi was in crickhowell in 78 we did not take part in any inter platoon football for a trophy
If anyone played for the trophy i think it would`ve been Junior Soldiers/Leaders + not Trg Coy. Not played for in `79, sorry.

Hi Chow.Yes he was RRW. I last saw Sgt Donavon in Sennybridge in the mid 80's.I was stationed in the Mt plt in Lichfield depot from 84 to 86 & went to Sennybridge with the plts to do their battle camp & I saw him in 1 of the pubs in the village. Like you said he made time for all the lads in the camp. & when the lad we are talking about died & whole block went dead with silence. Sel
thanks for the info sel..had a look on milt/reunited ..no mention in the rrw files..and ye it was a very very sad day..i had to clear his locker ..not good..but we did have plenty of good time at the depot..and still fond memories of the place..steve
