Dear Sir. I started reaserching my family history with the RWF well over a year ago with very little success, although i have managed to find related photo's which are of interest and are of sentimental value to certain members within our family.
My father. 4193432 Fus Nicholls DK past away on Aug 16 this year and this has prompted me to find as much information as i can, hopefully including his service records.
His father, my grandad SGT Albert Nicholls BEM RWF and my uncle Cpl Herbert Nicholls RWF also served with the regiment and any help or information would be appreciated. I shall pleasingly provide you with more information shortly if needed.Iofund this website while doing a search on the internet and have found it a godsend. I have browsed the photo galleries and would be interested in putting something together for the benefit of other people who might still be with us. Thankfully. Brian Nicholls

Hi Brian,

Welcome to the Forum. Had a look through all the usual reference books. No mention of your father, although that is not unusual. Do you know when/where he served. Because you have his Service No, you can download an application form, from the link below, and apply for his service record. It will take about 8 months and cost £35:

With regard to Albert and Herbert. I found a CSgt A Nicholl listed on a orbat for the 4th RWF(TA) 1947-49. Again, roughly when did he serve. I can't yet find any reference of a BEM being awarded to A Nicholls RWF between 39-69.

Glad the site has been of some use. We would be very interested in seeing the photos of your family members who served.

Best wishes

David Kenneth Nicholls appears to have served with 4/RWF and left the Regiment on the 26th June 1942 - whether he left the Army or transferred to another Regiment I do not know.
