Hi
I am looking for anybody that was in my intake at Wrexham for National Service in 1959. My name is Keith Colley and I am from South Wales. To mention a few names, there was Sargent Busty Hastings, Captain Minter-Kemp, Sargent Fyce, I'll think of a few more soon. Anybody's memories would be welcome. also on bearshead16@ntlworld.com

Hello Keith,
Re your thread on the last N.S.intake. If the Sergeant Fice I knew of, was the platoon Sergeant I have a faint recollection from the lLeague of Friends a man who was known as Sgt Fice has departed this mortal coil.I noticed in the L.O.F. address book only Mrs Fice is mentioned It would pay to check this out re garding Sgt Fice as the spelling is different but the chronology fits.I may also be getting mixed up with Sgt Fido.Maybe some one else from the first in the 1950's could help out. Capt Minter Kemp was in the 2nd Battalion in Malaya.

Hello Keith,
I was in a National Service intake in 1959, I signed on as a regular and was in Minden Plt.
the Plt Sgt's were as I remember Sgt Blewitt, Sge Masters and Sgt Fury and Sgt Ellis, Capt Wainwright was either 2 i/c at the depot at the time or something like that, the CSM was Knobby Mason DCM the OC depot was Maj LJ Egan I know it was him as I appeard in front of him, the RSM was RSM Markbride.
The ORQMS was Howard Russell and if my memory is right as he was then Capt AC Vivian was the Adj.
Hope this helps, I think the info is correct.
Regards,
Joe, formerly Hughes 77.

Hello Smokey,
The Sjts you mention were in Malaya that is to say Blewitt, Masters, Ellis, and Fury. The csm Markbride was also from the second at this time. I believe the ORQMS Russell was also intelligence sjt in Malaya. A veritable blast from the past.
