It is with great sadness that I have been informed today that one of our stalwart members Mr Maelor Evans past away whilst on holiday with his wife in Great Yarmouth.
Having undergone heart surgery only a few weeks ago Maelor was determined to attend this year's Reunion and consequently kept his 100% record of attendance at every reunion since the end of WW2. As a Comrades Medal holder he was noted as a fine singer both on the stage, in chapel and in the watering holes of Wrexham. A standard bearer in his younger days for both the Branch, the Burma Star Association and the British Legion in Aberystwyth and to this day had the honour of being the only Legion Member in Aberystwyth to have carried the standard at the Festival of Rememberance at the Albert Hall.
His kindness touched all he knew, as he was a very good friend to both young and old alike.
He will be missed by us all.
I will post details of his funeral etc as soon as I have them.
Sleep tight friend, a truer Royal Welchman there never was
