To help everyone get the most out of this section and help identify as many people as possible, please follow these simple guidelines when starting a new thread:
1. Title Your Thread Clearly
Don't just title your post "Old Photo." Help people filter through the threads by including the Year/Decade, Location, and Company/Platoon if you know it.
Good Example: 1 RWF - B Coy - Ballykinler, 1992
Good Example: Mortar Platoon - Gorazde, 1995
2. Provide as Much Context as Possible
In your post, share whatever details you can remember. Even small clues can jog someone's memory:
Who is definitely in the photo? (List the names you already know.
Where exactly was it taken? (The NAAFI, out on patrol, sangar duty?)
What is the story or joke behind the photo?
3. How to Help Identify People
If you recognise someone in a photo posted by another member, reply to the thread with their Name and, if possible, where they are in the picture (e.g., "Back row, third from the left is Jonesy").
Once a face is successfully identified, the original poster can edit their thread to update the caption!
4. Keep it Respectful
While we all love a bit of classic RWF banter, please remember that these photos represent our shared history. Keep the comments good-natured. If a photo features a brother-in-arms who is no longer with us, let’s ensure we honour their memory respectfully.
