Evan Emlyn Hughes was a native of Holyhead and believed to have joined the Battalion late 43.
He was at Evrecy, Den Bosch and the Reichswald before ending up in Scandinavia
His son Dave Hughes would like to know if there is anyone who knew him.
Thanks.

Hi John,
Appreciate you getting in touch. I have forwarded some photographs to the site which hopefully will be on in the next few days. Dad enlisted at Brecon Sept 44 and was with the battalion for the duration. I know he was No. 2 on the bren and was seconded to the Ninety Four Club in Dusseldorf at the end of hostilities. At the time of his demob I think he was with headquarters 15th Infantry Brigade.
I've spoken to my mum Gwyneth who still lives Mold and she states that the names you have mentioned are familiar to her, but she cannot be sure.
Regards
Dave

Hi John,

Mike Owen, who is a former Royal Welchman and a member of this site, works in Manchester City Centre, and has recently found mention on a war memorial in the Salford area, of a guy called 4197244 Norman Smith, who was a member of the 6th Bn and killed on the 2nd October 1944. Mike is interested in finding out a bit more about this. Would your father possibly remember him.

Best wishes

Al Poole

Dear Colin
All members of the Shotton & Deeside Branch RWFCA knew Evan very well as he was a member of this Branch. I keep in contact with Dave's mother Gwyneth quite often by telephone and I see her in Mold very regularly.

Hello All,
I have a member in My branch who served with the 6th and 9th, his name is Bill Brown he went over on D-Day +3, and served right through to the Reichswald,he was wounded 3 times. Another good bet would be to Contact Bob Doake in Brecon and ask "Strasser" as I believe he served in the 6th.More info as I get it.
